TSU President to Address State Of Education During Rainbow Push Convention in Chicago (2207 hits)

Tennessee State University president, Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, will join a prestigious list of speakers during the 42nd Annual Rainbow Push Coalition International Convention in Chicago, Ill., July 6-10.
Dr. Glover joins other notable speakers, including civil rights activist, the Reverend Al Sharpton; Ben Jealous, president of the NAACP; National Organization of Women president, Terry O’Neil; Rainbow PUSH spokesperson Jonathan Jackson; and Judge Greg Mathis, television host and Co-Chair, PUSH for Excellence, among others during the five-day event.
The president will be part of a roundtable discussion Monday, July 8, responding to the State of Education address given by Dr. Julianne Malveaux, president of PUSH for Excellence. Along with Dr. Glover, other educators, college and university presidents, deans, and administrators will explore solutions to the current crisis in funding and access to high quality public education. Dialogue will focus on issues facing Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Parents Plus, and K-12 school reform.
Now in its 42nd year, the Rainbow PUSH convention will focus on A More Perfect Union: 150 years later and beyond freedom—reconstruction.
Rainbow PUSH Coalition was formed in December 1996 by the Reverend Jesse L. Jackson Sr. through the merging of two organizations he founded earlier, People United to Serve Humanity (PUSH, 1971) and the Rainbow Coalition (1984). With headquarters in Chicago and offices in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Oakland, the coalition works to make the American Dream a reality for all citizens and advocates peace and justice around the world.
