On Teacher’s Day, Two Ways of Saying Thanks (4418 hits)
Today marks the start of National Teacher Appreciation Week – a great opportunity to show teachers how much they matter to us.
One great way to thank teachers is by supporting organizations that help them do their best work. I recently met with representative of one such organization, the Teaching Channel, an online community of teachers who create and share “how-to” videos, like the one above, that illustrate ideas for how to be more effective in the classroom.
Another great way to thank teachers is by simply celebrating the teaching profession – both the incredible commitment it requires and the profound impact it has on the lives of students.
In this spirit, I asked a question to teachers in a blog in March: When did you know you wanted to teach?
Beautiful responses poured in from across the country. Below are just a few of my favorites.
Where would we be without teachers? I have been influenced by teachers from my first day of school, some good, and some not so good. Teachers are the only people we spend almost as much time with as we do with our own parents. The only reward a teacher strives for is that sparkle in a student's eye when he or she finally gets it. THANK YOU!
