FANTASIA COMMENTS ABOUT GAY MARRIAGE: PR SAYS IT WAS TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT (1149 hits)
Fantasia has been the center of controversy because she dated and subsequently had a baby with a married man. However, she may not have handled the criticism well at times and sometime even appeared depressed during the taping of her reality TV show “Fantasia For Real” on VH1.” According to reports by Huffington Post on Monday Dec. 31 Fantasia ranted on Instagram about the unfairness of her being judged by people.
Fantasia has had to deal with a lot of criticism concerning her relationship with Antwaun Cook. Paula Cook, Antwaun's wife, even tried to sue Fantasia stating that she was responsible for the married couple's separation. However, the judge ruled that Paula and Antwaun were already separated therefore Fantasia was not at fault.
The constant criticism has been too much for Fantasia and she has apparently had enough. In a rant on Instagram, which was quickly deleted, Fantasia claimed that “the world has gone mad.”
“I Rise ABOVE IT ALL!!! THE WORLD IS GONE MAD. KIDS, THE GOVERNMENT THE church House... Everybody Trying!!!!!!! Its a lot that going on that the Bible speaks about we should Not be doing. Weed legal in some places, Gay Marriage Legal BUT YET IM JUDGED!!! I'm not doing Nothing for you... My Life!!!!
The statement caused a backlash from gay community supporters who believed Fantasia was bashing them and their beliefs. However, Fantasia's PR department was quick to release a statement claiming that Fantasia's words were taken out of context.
“Comments made by Ms. Barrino through her Intragram account were recently taken far out of context, and the purpose of this release is to set the record straight. Ms. Barrino is not now, nor has she ever been an opponent of the LGBT community. She has supported and performed at numerous events that are sponsored by the LGBT community. Whether it’s through a live performance or placement on social media, Ms. Barrino uses every opportunity to reach out and connect with her fans, all of her fans.
