Please Keep Former Pres. George H. Bush in Your Prayers; He's Been Hospitalized (479 hits)

Former President George H.W. Bush has been admitted to the intensive care unit at a Houston hospital 'following a series of setbacks including a persistent fever,' but he is alert and talking to medical staff, his spokesman said Wednesday.

TOP STORY -- "Statement by the Office of George [H.W.] Bush ... HOUSTON -- Following is a statement by Bush family spokesman Jim McGrath. 'Following a series of setbacks including a persistent fever, President Bush was admitted to the intensive care unit at Methodist Hospital on Sunday where he remains in guarded condition. Doctors at Methodist continue to be cautiously optimistic about the current course of treatment. The President is alert and conversing with medical staff, and is surrounded by family.'"

--Houston Chronicle p. 1, "41ST PRESIDENT: Bush battles fever in intensive care," by Erin Mulvaney: "Bush spent Christmas Day in the hospital with his wife, Barbara, and several family members who live in Houston. The family ordered food from Gigi's Asian Bistro in the Galleria, where they traditionally eat on Christmas Day. ... The oldest living former president, Bush is also a former vice president, congressman and CIA director."
