Holiday Nutrition Tip - Drinking Alcohol & Calories (846 hits)

When consuming alcohol during the holidays choose light beer, low-proof wines or low-calorie mixed drinks (i.e. rum/vodka with soda). There are about 70 calories in 1 ounce of hard liquor (i.e. vodka, cognac). By mixing 3 oz. of hard liquor with 4oz of cranberry, orange or other juice, you’re looking at about 270 calories in just 1 small mixed drink. As such, in order to ensure that you don't accumulate a substantial amount of calories during the holiday season it’s important to consume alcohol in moderation.
