A PRAYER FROM MIISRAEL: FOR FAMILIES THAT HAVE LOSS OF THEIR CHILDREN TO VIOLENCE (1495 hits)
This has been a week of gun violence used against the innocents. Our children in America and violence against adults as well. However, each person whether child or adult is someone's child. Even the ones committing violence is a child of loss to parents because somehow, they too have lost their way to do violent acts. It is the dedication of this prayer.. Our prayers are much needed to keep us strong, watchful and focused on our Almighty Lord.

OUR LORD FATHER OF HEAVEN:
We pray because we seek you in everything. You know all reasons and every situation of which we acknowledge your Omni-presence. Because many times we do not understand why things happen as they do, we know we have you to give us the strength to apply in every situation.
As we pray today, we ask your love to fill hearts of those hurting, suffering, and grieving in the loss of their loved ones.
We ask your love to fill hearts with joy and to give all the families comfort and healing. We ask your protection over all of us in this Nation of the United States and that we seek you to give us guidance.
Families have need of you more than ever before; we have need to know you are God. We have need to love and be loved by your loving Spirit of Power. We have total need of your arms to keep us from harm and to keep our children from harm's way. Yet we have total need that we edify you always without hesitation no matter what situations come upon us.
Each one of us have our prayers from our hearts and we are praying our prayers are answered. Give us faith, comfort, trust, and let us obey you with most of all Love in our hearts and minds.
As many are suffering loss in violence We ask your loving peace upon our country and upon children and adults who have perished of love ones in acts of violence.

Always, Irma you are opened to my prayers. I cannot turn away no one who really wishes to pray honestly. Neither do I believe the Lord will not hear a prayer.. prayed with sincereity and purity of heart and spirit. His mercy intercedes with paramounted listening.
@Jen...of course we will have to make changes. Changes inside the heart and rearing our older and younger generations to love each other. By this, I mean righteous teachings and morals. The respect of the elderly and keeping the commandments of obedience from God. Yet, because many families have left God out of their lives; we have left the love outside and the enemy within is destroying lives with a rapid pace. Prayers give solutions in both spiritual and moral living of life. However, works and change are required to attain faith and trust into giving revelation. I don't know if many will see this as a real answer from standpoints of human thinking, because so many are not having understanding of the Spirit, but it I know it is the real answer from the standpoint spiritual reality. When all is said and done--- God will be and is our help! Indiviuals must return to following ways of God's obedience.

Nam-myoho-renge-kyo
The invocation of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo was established by Nichiren Daishonin on April 28, 1253. Having studied widely among all the Buddhist sutras, he had concluded that the Lotus Sutra contains the ultimate truth of Buddhism: that everyone without exception has the potential to attain Buddhahood. The title of the Lotus Sutra in its Japanese translation is Myoho-renge-kyo. But to Nichiren, Myoho-renge-kyo was far more than the title of a Buddhist text, it was the expression, in words, of the Law of life which all Buddhist teachings in one way or another seek to clarify. What follows is a brief and unavoidably limited explanation of some of the key concepts expressed by this phrase.
Nam
The word nam derives from Sanskrit. A close translation of its meaning is "to devote oneself." Nichiren established the practice of chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo as a means to enable all people to put their lives in harmony or rhythm with the law of life, or Dharma. In the original Sanskrit, nam indicates the elements of action and attitude, and refers therefore to the correct action one needs to take and the attitude one needs to develop in order to attain Buddhahood in this lifetime.
Myoho
Myoho literally means the Mystic Law, and expresses the relationship between the life inherent in the universe and the many different ways this life expresses itself. Myo refers to the very essence of life, which is "invisible" and beyond intellectual understanding. This essence always expresses itself in a tangible form (ho) that can be apprehended by the senses. Phenomena (ho) are changeable, but pervading all such phenomena is a constant reality known as myo.
Renge
Renge means lotus flower. The lotus blooms and produces seeds at the same time, and thus represents the simultaneity of cause and effect. The circumstances and quality of our individual lives are determined by the causes and effects, both good and bad, that we accumulate (through our thoughts, words and actions) at each moment. This is called our "karma." The law of cause and effect explains that we each have personal responsibility for our own destiny. We create our destiny and we can change it. The most powerful cause we can make is to chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo; the effect of Buddhahood is simultaneously created in the depths of our life and will definitely manifest in time.
The lotus flower grows and blooms in a muddy pond, and yet remains pristine and free from any defilement, symbolizing the emergence of Buddhahood from within the life of an ordinary person.
Kyo
Kyo literally means sutra, the voice or teaching of a Buddha. In this sense, it also means sound, rhythm or vibration. Also, the Chinese character for kyo originally meant the warp in a piece of woven cloth, symbolizing the continuity of life throughout past, present and future. In a broad sense, kyo conveys the concept that all things in the universe are a manifestation of the Mystic Law.
Primary Practice
Chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo--also known as "Daimoku"—is the primary practice of SGI members. Through this practice, one is able to reveal the state of Buddhahood in one's life, experienced as the natural development of joy, increased vitality, courage, wisdom and compassion.

@Steve I will continue to send prayers. There was once a time, I wanted to discontinue the prayers here and I remembered there are some who sincerely wanted prayers. How could not offer a prayer for even a few. On one site I would visit, occasionally my prayer would get deleted.

Steve, Muslims observe five formal prayers each day. The timings of these prayers are spaced fairly evenly throughout the day, so that one is constantly reminded of God and given opportunities to seek His guidance and forgiveness.

Yes, we can pray about specific events at these appointed times as well. For example, after reciting the Muslim prayer above, It was narrated from the Prophet Muhammad's wife Aisha that whenever him or anyone else fell ill, the Prophet would say: "Remove the harm, O Lord of humankind for You are the Healer and there is no healing except Your healing, with a healing which does not leave any disease behind."
