LARGE PELLET SHOWER DRENCHED HONG KONG BEACHES (536 hits)

Typhoon Vincente 2012 raided with an overwhelming drench landing in Hong Kong as one of the worst in 13 years. In addition, the typhoon landing of wind and rains came too the drenching of plastic pellets which fouled up Hong Kong beaches from a sea spill off a ship hauling plastic pellets during its arrival.

This drenching caused environmentalists to be concerned as to the harm may be caused if toxicants could harm fish and marine life. So far; some of the pellets have been found in the stomachs of fish farmed in Hong Kong and altered concern. Several hundred volunteered at one China’s beaches led a clean-up crew which only admirable dented a small breakage in the clean-up effort. Overall, the clean up could take months. Vincente raided in on July 24, 2012 affecting about 6.23 million people in 264 counties which were forced to evacuate about 567 residents. Extent of damage is in the millions. Many homeless and there was report of some fatalities as well.

As for the pellet clean-up, the Chinese oil major Sinopec has offered help to pay in the tones of plastic pellets that has littered beaches even though the spillage was not it’s fault and a cause of nature’s fury. In the long haul to clean up and restoration Sinopec will send its staff with local volunteers to pick up the pellets by hand. Sinopec stands firm they have the will to pay for all costs if they could be legally blamed for the spill or not.

Sinopec has offered help? They should be responsible for ALL the costs involved in the clean up.

The report said Sinopec felt as if they were the victim because of the typhoon, but I think they should pay -- I'm sure they had that cargo of pellets insured and they'll reap bounties in losses for it too.
