I have braided my hair, have braided girls, women, boys and men hair, and have gotten my hair braided for the summer for years. This one task I know for sure, braids needs to be washed I have often wondered why black women and folks of color believe that if the hair is braided, there is no use for washing the hair. Ladies, and gents, the hair whether it is yours or someone else’s the hair and scalp should be washed and cleaned. This is how I (first person) care for my braids, whether I leave the braids end for two weeks or two months. First the scalp can be washed with alcohol to strengthen the roots. This can be done by using a wash cloth, or small sponge Next the braids can be washed by using braid shampoo and conditioner Wash your braids just as if you were washing your hair without the braids (if you have synthetic or human hair attached to one’s natural hair) Then the braids can be sprayed with braid spray that is a light oil If for some reasons not of any fault of your own, one in which you do not have money to spend on these products First take lemon and water in a spray bottle and spray wash your scalp, this will strengthen scalp as well: braids and hair. Now if you do not have money to purchase braid shampoo and conditioner and oils, use any low priced shampoo and conditioner from the DOLLAR store that contains oils. Be Bless
