Dear Gardeners:
May blooms are out with beautiful roses. I have red and pink ones around my yard and they are absolutely beautiful. It's the time for roses to have their season. Each year rose growers flaunt the gardens with sweet aromas and colors. And many colors of roses are, white, pink, yellow and the ever popular red. That's just name the basic varieties there a many others including rare roses of black and purple. Rose bushes compliment any landscape no matter how large or small. We often have a decopage of roses in the stores because roses is the famous Mother's Day gift. Other than Valentine's Day Mothers, daughters, engagements are swooped with at least one to dozens of them every year. It's splendid.
My mother grew roses in the bunches and I can remember her lovely yards and fences of them. There's nothing like mother's roses. Each May I have my own memories of her even down to remembering her looking upon her garden of blooms. She was a great gardener. There's something unforgetable about the whole connection of Moms and the rose. I too, have a passion and adore them, and I've cut a couple of bouquets them while the rose season lasts. I have a summer rose which is pink and I get to see it bloom during hotter months. Are roses hard to grow?
What's the secret of growing roses? Here's a few hints and tips I borrowed from web-sites and garden experts just in case you're thinking about roses for next May.
Roses can be planted in early spring, mid-summer and early or late fall and even winter:

Selecting a Planting Site:
Roses need 5 to 6 hours direct sun. Morning sun gives the best light and afternoon sun is also fine.
Be sure to have room for the roses to flourish.
Don't plant roses near trees or shurbs, and avoid planting in gutters.
Plant a variety and keep them at least 3 feet apart.
How to Plant:
Dig a hole about 15 inches deep and at least 18 inches wide.
Add a small handful of bone meal to the planting hole. Add peat moss and mix soil.
Remove the rose from pot and place it in the hole about 1 inch under the soil.
Gently firm the rose into it's new home and water well.
These were general planting tips, so read instructions on your rose's purchase package and follow directions.
Mother's roses are always remembered. I'm thinking of my mom.
I love roses and this blog reminds me of the next door neighbor lady who had a beautiful rose bush. We kids would run and pick her roses and she'd yell at us. Her roses were pink.

Of course, I got pricked lots of time but I couldn't resist those beautiful roses. It (being pricked) was worth it because the smell and shear beauty of that rose made me go through the pain of having one everytime!

I love roses and I think I'll start planting some in my front yard. I recently planted some broccoli and cabbage to go with the cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes in my backyard. The broccoli has been mmm-mmm good, lightly steamed with butter. I never knew broccoli to go below the ground instead of above the ground, so imagine the puzzled look on my face when it actually started growing...LOL. I'm not what you would call a professional gardener, but I am proud of the results so far. I'd like to add rosemary and other spices to the list.
Lovely...growing things makes you a pro! When you've realized just how satisfying it is to see what you've planted come to harvest. Roses come back year after year, and I think you should consider at least a couple of rose bushes... Hey, I'm no pro either..but I like to see the work I've put in have a beautiful increase given by the Father. He's surely the best pro around for growing all those beautiful things... Keep it up and may you have continued enjoyment of your veggies... [Smiles]
