Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies. Psalm 60:12
Believers tend to make two mistakes in dealing with the attack of Satan in their lives. On the one hand there are those who think they can handle the enemy single-handed. But on the other there are those who think that they must just leave it to the Lord to do. But neither of these is correct.
If you try to handle the enemy alone you will find him to be more powerful than you realized. He has had a little more experience than you in this battle and he will use tactics that you are not ready for. But if you wait for the Lord to do it for you, then you give the enemy open license not only to attack you, but to blame the Lord for the attack. And you will be totally confused.
You have to combine the two together. It is the Lord that overcomes for you. But He does not do it apart from you. He does it THROUGH YOU. David said that through God we will have the victory. He will tread down the enemies, but He will do it through us.
You need to realize that Satan's authority is confined to the earth. He has no authority in heaven. And in the earth, God has given authority to the church. Jesus said, "Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven." It is man that gave Satan his authority in the first place, not God. God gave the authority to Adam, but Adam went and handed it over to Satan.
But now in Jesus, our authority is returned. Now IN HIM we can reclaim the authority that was handed over to Satan. We have the right to tell him to take his hands off us. We have the right to tell him to get out of our affairs. We have the right to resist him and he will flee, according to James.
So when you are under attack, don't try to resist by yourself. But don't stand there whining and crying out to the Lord either. Take your stand in the Name of Jesus, who lives in you by His Spirit, and use the authority that you now have in Him.
And you will find that as you put your foot on the Devil's neck, the Lord's foot is in yours. And as you bind the works of darkness, you will release the power of God to go out and destroy the attack that was against you.
Just pick up your foot and stand all over him in Jesus' Name. When he realizes that you know that you have power over him, then his game will be up and he will soon get out of your face.
