TRUE LIFE SITUATIONS: OREO IS 100 YEARS OLD (467 hits)
Fascinating a cookie that's been around longer than some of our ancestors and grand ancestors. But I, thinking about an old cookie which was once used as a name for someone who was "back in the day a person" used as a stero-type to an Afro-American; or Black whom wasn't true to his race. Meaning,...Black on the outside and White on the inside. It's true. Oreo had a demeaning reputation back then and no one I knew particularily liked being called an "Oreo." It was the age of Black Power and Black Awareness and becoming Black, Gifted and a enjoying a new Civil freedom. However, through all of that the Oreo cookie remains to be almost every household's favorite treat. The report I heard about it's 100th birthday says that Oreo has sold plus 147billion cookies and counting. That's world wide margin by the way, this says that it's taste can be a symbol; if you will it of togetherness. Black and White together who share the world round in a cookie as a whole. Besides a delicious treat, the Oreo is still afforable unlike the $17 cookies I bought from my nephew the other day to help support his school. I mentioned how I could buy several packages of Oreos for that price! Really! This was a true life situation. That's why I bought his cookies, for support of his education. He'll need to have that cookie together with the world's competition waiting for him.
I like my Oreo cookies with vanilla ice cream (smile)
