CNN Breaking News: Eddie Long Told His Church He's " taking time off " From Ministry to Work on His Family (877 hits)
Sunday, December 4, 2011 Georgia televangelist Eddie Long told his congregation Sunday that he is "taking time off" from the church to work on his family. His announcement came just three days after his wife filed for divorce.
Long is senior pastor and bishop of the New Birth Missionary Church, which has more than 25,000 members, according to its website.
Last spring, he settled a lawsuit filed by four young men who accused him of pressuring them into s*xual relationships while they were teenagers and members of Long's congregation at the church, in an Atlanta suburb.
That suit alleged that Long "uses monetary funds from the accounts of New Birth and other corporate and non-profit corporate accounts to entice the young men with cars, clothes, jewelry, and electronics."
I know right! Bishop is working on how he can try as he may... to "Recover what he's obviously ALREADY LOST... his WIFE or least keep her from taking his remaining TREASURES (church, cars, home(s), jet, minks, furs, jewelry, money (the church's money).
He's truly a selfish man who is only concerned for himself, because he's certainly not concerned for New Birth Missionary Baptist Church Members or his family. Had he been... he would have "come clean", apologized to those young boys and their families, asked his wife and families forgiveness, and REPENTED before GOD and The New Birth Missionary Baptist Church Fold AS WELL AS STEPPED DOWN AS SENIOR PASTOR FOR A TIME>>>>
He would have been forgiven and perhaps he would still have both his church family and his wife. TOO, Late EDDIE.... May the lesson of Jim Bakker serve you well.
Psalm 51 1Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
Only the Good Lawd would know the motive or what's behind someone asking for forgiveness from the person that someone has hurt. All we can do is do what the scripture says... forgive the person; however, in the case of the Bishop he needs to do a ' Jimmy Swaggart ' with snotty nose and tears before television camaras and his congregation so that we all can see.
He put on a show when he was ' attempting ' to hoodwink people into believing he was gonna fight like David. Apparently he forgot that David wasn't PROUD but a HUMBLE person who knew how REPENT when he had SINNED.
...ACTUALLY WHEN i HEARD THIS TODAY on Cnn it sort of confused me as they said his wife is not now divorcing him after he decided to take time off at the same time they were saying his wife had filed for divorce...go figure. (smile)

ROBINSON IRMA
My only problem with the I am sorry and please forgive me...if the reason for the regret is getting caught...only leads to the I will make sure I don't get caught the next time.
Where is the taking responsibility for this behavior, because I am sure the congregation of this person has listened to his sermons against this kind of behaviors, notice how they cheered that his wife was not leaving him???? and it seemlike they have already forgiven him...
what about the distroyed lives of victims in this??? Oh, well...there "I" go talking about religion again. or am I talking about a pattern of behavior on mankinds?LOL!!! (smile)
