TIME FOR CHANGE...IF YOU ARE REAL ABOUT YOURS!!! (1760 hits)

The reality is that the Black community is in aweful shape. In the schools, in the churches, in the prisons....everywhere: we are suffering.
Black boys are placed in special education classes at a higher rate than any of their counterparts.
There are more Black men in jail and prison than in college.
The Black rate of unemployment is higher than all other ethnic groups.
The Black woman is confused and misled, thinking that there are no decent Black men out there to marry.
Our community is falling apart and all we (most of us, not all) can do is knock the next brother or sister trying to make a difference.
We have to change NOW!!! God is very angry...look at the recent events in the weather, the tsunami, mud slides, and flooding (the latter of the two here in America). We, those of us with our eyes some what opened, must do something.
Most of us have been posting in this forum for a while. Let's pool our resources. Let's get together and make some real change.
Here's my proposition: let's start a school for Black boys only, starting with kindergarden going to 12 grade. Let's give our boys a chance. I have the entire idea outlined for those interested. Its still in the delevopmental stages; however, we must do something. Its not all about us anymore, never was in the first place.
The bottom line is that while we are arguing, talking s***, clowning, putting others down, our community is suffering. Our children are suffering in these schools under the "No Child Left Behind" act. We are suffering. Its time to rise up and get busy. We have the knowledge, lets put it into action.
The Black man is suffering from a lack of education, therefore many don't have jobs, b/c they are not properly educated. The service sector jobs that were once most filled by Black men are now going to immigrants who work for low wages and/or little to no benefits. There is also the economy which is seeing a shrinking of the contruction and manufacturing jobs, which were in the past held by Black men. Then the factor of crime comes in b/c every man naturally desires to take care of his family; therefore the only real options for him are criminal in nature, ie: selling drugs, robbing....which all leads back to the initial problem.
My solution is one for early, consistant, positive intervention. We must control the education of our children and with the new No Child Left Behind Son-of-a-Bush legislation our children are being forced out of educational competiton. Our children have different learning patterns and therefore must be taught using different methods.
I propose giving young Black children something positive to do, ie: before and after school prgrams, summer and all break programs, from pre-K to 12th grade.
