Christian Working Mom July Interview features yours truly, Jen Fad! (1159 hits)
Interview: Jen Fad is a Christian Working Mom (CWM); a trained registered nurse by profession who has been married for 10 years and has a child entering first grade. Jen shares the following joys in being a CWM: ~ I have the opportunity to balance the best of all my world(s). Working outside of the home allows me not only to have income to help my family, but it gives me seed to sow into the Kingdom and into the lives of others in need.
~I have the privilege of caring for people who are spiritually, emotionally, and physically ill in order to restore them back to health. I love being able to help my patients by performing simple acts of kindness like bathing them, making their beds, and giving them medications.
~I love learning new things and being able to interact with people in the workplace from different generations (Baby Boomers, Gen X, and Gen Y). It has really made me a more knowledgeable person and has given me the opportunity to share in my colleagues joys such as celebrations of marriages, births, and wedding anniversaries.
~I also get to share in my colleagues’ pain. Recently two of my colleagues were ill and out of work as a result of which they found themselves on the receiving end of the care they were used to giving to others. I was able to reach out to them to let them know how much I cared for them. They have both since returned to work.
~Lastly, the best part of being a CWM is knowing that I have a family to come home to. Jen struggles as a CWM with diplomacy when communicating with others at times. I believe that Jesus is still working on me in that regards. I'm glad He's not finished with me yet; her favorite Bible verse is: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. God is teaching me how to be who He intended me to be in spite of what others think I should be.
Jen shares the following words of Encouragement for other Christian Working Moms: We as women should make a better effort to encourage one another as the days grow near to the Second coming of the Messiah. It's really easy to be caught up in our own families and lives, but there is a real need to minister to other women and to encourage other Christians. Jen says while I love being a Nurse, Motherhood is by far the most rewarding occupation yet.
Final Thoughts Thanks Jen for reminding us we always need to have an eternal perspective about things going on in our lives. Too often we get stuck in the temporal and don’t have an eternal perspective. Our life lived here on earth is really very short and we need to serve God with all He has called us to do. I’m learning every day I must do my daily tasks in the power of the Holy Spirit instead of my own strength. “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecution, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:8-10.
Till next time, Kimberly

@ Saint, I hadn't considered that there were people with various aliases that were among us. Interesting thought and though hard for me to fathom because I don't understand that mentality.

@ Sister Miisrael, Thanks, but anyone can agree to be interviewed as long as one is willing. Christine was actually appealing for folk to be interviewed so I typed up my spill and emailed it to her.
@ Sister Irma, He'll be going to first grade anytime from now. I think you're too, cute because I tend to be the same way when it comes to children forgetting all about the adults when children are in the mix. Speaking of which, while on holiday down South a couple of weeks ago, my son was tussling with a little girl cousin who is around the same age (6yrs old) and has some disciplinary issues. It's ironic that you say I'll be a little nervous on his first day, because I was a little leery to have him stay alone with my little relatives because they are "in the country' and do have scuffles which my little one isn't accustomed to. But after seeing him in action... I don't think there will be any reasons for me to be nervous.
Although I don't condone fighting and especially not with little girls, I never imagined that my son would instinctively know how to defend himself when having his "back up against a wall".
You have to see this little girl I'm speaking of because she reminds me of myself when back in the day down ‘in the country’ but the only difference is that had she been reared in the days I came up, she would have had a 'switching' to the legs and the ‘taste knocked' out of her mouth on several occasions for fighting and back talking. In spite of that, she's still the cutest thing you would ever want to see (not behavior wise of course) because of her (VERY) energetic spirit. You see, we’re the same in this wise (talking about children) … I got so carried away, too!
Congratulations on your interview Jen...

Saint, not sure if Kim and Christine Governor are the same person, however Kim shared on her post (the one with the pink boxing gloves) that she saw no need to use a profile pic because "what she has to say to Jen stands on its own" as she said...but yes you are right about how it should be mandatory that new BIA members post a pic upon registering...also I don't know how many of you people are aware of this but on the BlackHistory.com site I denied a friend request from a Phantaza Cheeson who is using the same profile pic Christine used when she first joined BIA...go figure

@ Sister Siebra, Thanks for the accolades!
@ Saint, It's alright to do a little super sleuthing. I really don't know what the heck is going on, but I know that it will all come out in the wash sooner or later as my grandmother always tells me!

Hey Jen, when is it going to be the big day for first day in big boy's school for your little angel?
Just be prepared to be more nervous than him on his big day for his first step into his future in this world of standing alone without Mom when his teacher calls on him to stand up and speak before the whole class...but he will be so excited he will not be able to wait to get home and talk about how grown up he is now. lol (smile)
