The Power Hour. Multi-tasking (313 hits)

I admit it... I am a reality tv addict (lowering my head) Don't judge me! This addiction started rather innocently with the "NYC Housewives". Since then I've moved on to "Basketball Wives " and of course almost the entire "Housewives" franchise. At the end of the week that's 4 hours that could be spent on something much more productive....I said don't judge me! Anyway, all that idle time got me to thinking, how could I turn my guilty pleasure into...The Power Hour.

Cast of Atlanta Housewives
In the past I was always trying to cram in my beauty and grooming activities during a lunch break, or early on a Saturday morning to avoid the beauty salon time trap. Of course this caused, at times, for a scheduling nightmare. Especially if a client requested a last-minute meeting or my stylist had an "emergency" and was 45 minutes late for my appointment.

So, I started doing some of those maintenance type things during my tv time. ultimately not making me feel so bad about, and in some alternate universe maybe even justifying, the time I spend watching women have discussions that sound much like the vaudeville comedy sketch "Whose On First"

Diva's please don't misunderstand what I'm saying. I do not expect anyone to take on major tasks that require focus...and skill like a haircut or applying hair color. However there are some things that work. Here's what Sunday's episode of "Housewives" looks like for me.

While the promo package is rolling I'm pampering my locks with a deep conditioner, I like Arbonne's FC5, that I will leave in almost all the way through the show. And yes, I do get super innovative and re-use my plastic grocery bags as a shower cap and then wrap my head in a towel I've warmed in the microwave. Using a shower cap or plastic bag when sitting with a deep conditioner keeps in the heat and helps the conditioner penetrate the cuticle of your hair. This will help prevent future damage from daily styling.

I'm also big on facial masks while watching The Ladies lunch. Trying to fit a facial into a lunch break was daunting to say the least. And like I said earlier Saturday mornings are usually reserved for the hair salon or shuttling my daughter to her activities. So, I figured let me use my Sea Source mask. An at home mask is the perfect maintenance for your face. The sea mud will detox the skin and the clay draws out the oil and keeps my face feeling and looking renewed.

Next I've moved on to giving myself the perfect pedi. Yes Diva's I still take trips to the professionals as well, but remember this is all about upkeep. I blogged about "Happy Feet" a while ago. Take a minute to read it to learn the tools you need and how to give yourself the perfect at home pedi. Feel free to email it to your significant other. You never know, they might come home inspired to shower love on your feet.

By now my show is almost over, and since they repeat I have no problem missing the last 15 minutes. At this point I dash upstairs and prepare for a nice hot shower. I rinse out the conditioner and the mask from my face. After all that pampering now is not the time to skimp on body care. I like to use a body cleanse that nourishes my skin and improves the tone. I use the body cleanse with a loofah bath mit. This allows me to exfoliate my skin as well. Don't forget to moisturize your face with a night serum and your body with a cream. This is especially important at night since while you are sleeping is when your body rejuvenates itself.

Finally, I'm calm, relaxed, and radiant. Ready to tackle what the world brings on Monday...beautifully!
