Just sharing what happened when I worked overnite last night... When I showed up on my unit, I immediately noticed tension amongst some of my colleagues, but I didn't think anything of it because its not unusal for them to have really busy days and feel stressed out from the day's work.
Low and behold that's not the case... These people are upset with me and had moved my assignment around because they fail to acknowledge the Pink Elephant in the Room re: the situation with colleague whom I told ... "My people were emanicipated and I'm not a Slave." Instead of asking me what was the cause for the dispute or the situation ... they just go around and ignore the elephant in the room jumping to their own conclusions about the reason for it perhaps thinking that I want easy patient assignments or that I'm really picky about my assignments which is not the case at all.
What I chose to do was to do what they were doing, ignore the obvious... "the Pink Elephant" and I received my report and had a really great shift inspite of their nonsense.
Guys the craziest part is that I hate when people get into other people's "kool aid without knowing the flavor' especially when the issue is no more... that colleague and I have already talked about the matter and its "spilled milk". They really looked foolish as I was happily doing what I always do... being a free woman.

@ Saint, [That's why I'm not a groupie whom thrives on confusion!!! ...unless they step to me right, if not you are automatically 'dissed', bye........... ]
They won't dare it which is why they were shuffling my assignment around like idiots; all they can do is be silently frustrated because they won't dare confront me because they don't like confrontation but rather they thrive on useless gossip(s). You're right about people (women) being followers (especially nurses) who happen to be predominantly female profession. I speak up for myself because I know that if I don't, I can't count on them to stick up for me. It's every man (woman) for themselves even though we have a union.
Speaking of the "lone wolf".... Interesting that you would use the phrase 'lone wolf" because just a week ago, I was using the same phrase while speaking with one of our Cardiologists which happens to be the same physician I wrote about some time ago who he and I had it out on the nursing station. That too, is spilled milk and as professionals we sorted out our differences and have gained one another's respect. He gave me some really good advice about how to thrive in the current toxic work environment where theres so much bullying going on from the top of the organization down.
Life is too, short to be fooling with fools...
