What to Say When A Colleague Makes the Mistake of Saying You Are Suppose to Work Hard (434 hits)
The other day, my dear sweet colleague (being sarcastic) assigned me patients on opposite ends of our unit which isn't a short distance. My argument was that either I'm on one side or the other, not both. And besides, I told her that I worked hard the day prior; her comment: "You're supposed to work hard." I went to her and told her that I resented her comment; furthermore, I'm always given "crappy assignments" without complaining. She didn't qualify or clarify her statement so I stated,
"My people have been emancipated and I'm NOT a Slave. The entire unit went silent.
What do you suppose was the reason for their silence? Hmmmm?
@ Brother Rich, Yes its true, nurses work hard as heck and there is plenty of agitated nerves going around including mine. Ha!!
