Road Rage Victims Talks About Shooting: 15-Year-Old Victim Still In Hospital (466 hits)
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Cashunna Maxey, 19, was crying when she spoke exclusively with CBS Atlanta news about the road rage shooting that put her younger sister, Asheley Jewell, in the hospital. "She is doing better, she fighting, she fighting," said Maxey. Maxey said Jewell is still in serious condition but she is recovering. Someone shot Jewell in the back of the head on Saturday, while she was riding in a car with Maxey, Maxey's 3-month-old daughter and several of their friends. "When we stopped, I didn't think nobody got hit. I didn't think the bullet hit anybody. I asked her was she all right? She threw up on me, so I was thinking that she was OK, she was just scared, that's when the charger came. We jumped out the car. She was the only one that didn't move and that's when I realized she had got shot," said Maxey.
Maxey was sitting in the backseat with Jewell. The driver, who asked us not to identify her, said their problems started after she cut off another car when she pulled onto Old National Highway. "Everybody started screaming, 'The car following us... the car following us,'" said the driver. The driver said it was dark, raining and they could not see who was shooting at them. "The first shots that we heard everybody started crying, hollering moving around, ducking. I was driving the car trying to get us away from it," said the driver. Maxey showed CBS Atlanta a hole in her baby's bag caused by one of the bullets. The bag was in the trunk of the car. Maxey said she is thankful no one was killed, especially her newborn. "It's a blessing that all of us are still here, especially the baby," said Maxey. Jewell's family and friends will hold a candlelight vigil for her Saturday at 7 p.m. at the corner of Old National and Jerome Rd.
