Exclusive Video: A Scorned Mary Harvey Tells More (611 hits)
Monday morning, Mary Shackleford Harvey, the former wife of comedian, Essence columnist, author and radio show host Steve Harvey, came to the TJMS to speak about her allegations of infidelity and financial disaster during and after their 16-year marriage.
After the show, the ex-Mrs. Harvey granted TJMS producer Deya Smith an exclusive video interview where she delves even deeper into her feelings and gives us an inside look at the Harvey relationship (click the link above to view). Shackleford Harvey explains in detail why she’s not the "angry black woman" that many believe that she is, citing the timing of events.
“If I was angry, the time for me to strike out would have been during the actual window of the divorce. So obviously, it’s taken me all this time to gather myself, to get better and to get healed and deal with big picture of this,” Shackleford Harvey says. She goes on to explain the reason why the situation has come to this and why it can be detrimental to make Mr. Harvey the spokesperson for successful relationships.
The Harvey feud (no pun intended) is representative of an all-too-common problem that exists in our community. We’ve all seen it many times amongst friends and sometimes right there in our own living rooms. The relationship between black men and women has deteriorated over time and has negatively affected our families for generations. Many times, we don’t know how to be friends, love or when the relationship has run its course, remain respectful of each others’ feelings.
Is this simply a case of a woman scorned? Has Mr. Harvey earned the status of relationship guru? It all depends on who you ask. Only time will tell what the affects of this public ordeal will have on the Harvey family and the public’s opinion of Mr. Harvey, his ex-wife and current wife. But it is safe to say that we’ll never know the complete truth any time soon. You can never really know what goes on in someone’s home. Instead of judges, we can only be spectators to this ordeal. Comments On this Article She needs to vent her rage and frustration coz' Steve is man enough to take it. He did it so he shouldn't be bothered when she lashes back! She held back for more years than most would have so she's done good! My concern is that a brutha' did wrong by this siistah' financially! She was a dodo for going along with it, but still she is owed more money than she got and I don't appreciate Steve Harvey for treating the mother of his child this way! Think about it, what if it were you?

The story is out now and Steve has got the church backing him up, so unless she can find some prayer warriors to come to her defense, she should wait and see how things work out.

WOW!! Honestly... I believe Mrs. Harvery (Marjorie) is a powerhouse within her own self. She comes from money and she is a shrewed business woman. For one I was surprised when I first heard that Steve had married for the third time.
I don't wanna take from Ms. Harvey (Mary's) worth... But as I deal with some men... they are forever evolving...
I think the present Mrs. Harvey brings more to the table.. I believe that she's head strong and sits in the throne with Steve Harvey... ((she's bossy)) which is ok... Because she has the abiltities to not only motivate him, but she's making sure that he's doing what he is supposed to or needs to do.
Mary Harvey was his then she fullfilled her obligations for that time. I can surely empathize with her... I know how she feels... and I believe that yes, it's time to vent her frustrations and her disappointments.... 16 years is a long term investment... She's put her time and family before her own.... I do believe in KARMA... if he indeed did wrong by her.... it's coming back.... Hey and if she can market and make money off her story... I Say... MAKE IT DO WHAT IT DO!!

@ Sister Helen, It shouldn't matter what religious entity or church grp is backing up Mr. Harvey because for all you know, he paid them to do so. Isn't that what people with money do these days-- pay people to support their interests? Believe it or yes, the religious organizations are also looking for money in this tough economy especially with people out of work and not being able to give like they used to.
@ Sister Cynthia, I believe that what goes around comes back around so if Mr. Harvey did the second Mrs. Harvey dirty...like my grandma often says, "It (the dirt) will all come out in the wash."
