Make a Difference: Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honest,... (294 hits)
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honest, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report; if [there is] any virtue, and if [there is] any praise, meditate on these things...
You know, I have come to realize that the key to abundant, successful living begins with the above Scripture! It begins with meditating on positive, not negative things. Then, what you think about or meditate on eventually flows over to your speech and your actions.
Just walk through a shopping mall or listen to people talking at a restaurant or in a bus, and I'll guarantee that most of what they are talking about is negative. They talk negatively about their circumstances, their family, their job - anything! I used to hear it every time I rode on the bus home from work or sat in the office canteen having lunch. It is amazing how much people concentrate on the negative, rather than on the postive, and things that will build them up and make them feel good.
Unfortunately it is not only people in the world who think and talk like this. Christians are often also guilty of it. But as a believer and a member of the Body of Christ, you are meant to be different! You are meant to stand out like a light in the world and draw people in because of it. As believers, we should stand out in a crowd, and people should see the Lord in us because of it. They should be saying, "You're just so different. What is it about you that is so refreshing?"
So now, how do you change from thinking and acting negatively to thinking and acting positively? It's easy - and meditating on the Word is a really good start! If you are feeling stressed about anything and you can't see a solution to your problem, take a few Scripture promises and begin to speak them out loud. You can whisper them under your breath if you can't speak out loud. Then think about the fact that the Lord is taking care of that problem.
Think about the good things that He is doing and the positive outcome to your difficult circumstances. Try and keep your eyes fixed on seeing the good, even if you are finding it very hard. As you do this and try and make a habit of thinking and speaking positively and trusting the Lord to help you, you will begin to see His hand moving in your circumstances. And more important - your positive outlook will begin to flow out to those around you. Who wouldn't be attracted to it?
You can make a difference, both in your life and in the lives of those around you! Let's go and do it and help the Body of Christ to rise up in power, and show the world that we have the victory and the solution to the problems in life! That is the way it is meant to be.
