The Law says " Public School students don't have to attend School", huh??? (322 hits)

Public School students now have the option to stay at home and take classes online. Thats right , your child no longer has to attend school , they can take their courses online. Home Study they call it. Do you agree or disagree???
{For} Our children are absolutely horrified to go to public schools these days , the fighting , gang activity, bullying , drug dealing , teachers molesting students, having to pay to play school sports. Metal detectors at the front door and lets not forget about Columbine. Most of the students I talk to say "They fear a student may bring guns or explosives into the school". Online Public School Education , Right or Wrong?
{Against} From 3 years to 9 years old are the formalitive years in a persons life . A school setting affords many advantages to a child , they get to compete against others their age, size and academic level. School gives them the oppurtunity to be part of a team setting , learn how to operate and function with others. School gives a shelter from home life , it allows a child to find his/her own direction . I have my opinions of Public School Online but I would like to hear yours !!!!

Brother Cherry,
Where have you been? Welcome back. I'm for homeschooling if parents are committed to it.

As long as there have been parents and children, “homeschooling” has been happening. It was only with the emergence of widespread compulsory public education that this age-old method of instruction was virtually forgotten, but not eradicated.1

In the 1970s and '80s, homeschooling experienced a renaissance as a few parents began to question whether the public education system or existing private schools were right for their individual child. They wondered if they might be able to do a better job. And what do you know? Parents discovered they could do a great job.

While few states specifically prohibited homeschooling, legislators and school officials acted as if they had. Homeschooling parents faced threats of jail time and having their children removed from their home. Some were arrested. Many were taken to court.

Parents were confronted by concerned neighbors, worried friends, and aghast relatives—all of whom were sure that the homeschooling mom and dad were ruining their children’s lives and dooming them to an unproductive future of illiteracy and isolation.

On average, homeschool students in grades 1-4 perform one grade level higher than their public and private school counterparts.

Today an estimated 1.6–2.0 million children are being taught at home by their parents.

By grade 8, the average homeschool student performs four grade levels above the national average.
