Your Thoughts Re: Utah Breech of Personal Data on Immigrant List Likely Came from State Workers? (543 hits)
(CNN) -- Utah officials are trying to determine whether government data were used to compile a list of more than 1,300 alleged illegal immigrants that included contact information, Social Security numbers and pregnancy due dates.
A state investigation is focusing on the Utah Department of Workforce Services, Gov. Gary Herbert's office said Thursday, because all information on the list is contained within that agency's database. Information from the investigation may be turned over to state prosecutors, a statement from the office said.
"They have very strong leads, first to indicate that it came from that agency and now it's just a process of drilling into the information a little deeper," governor's spokeswoman Angie Welling told CNN-affiliate KSTU.
The list was anonymously distributed to media and government offices across the state, the affiliate reported. An accompanying letter from "Concerned Citizens of the United States" insisted that those on the list should be deported immediately.
Welling told the affiliate that if the investigation reveals any state employees were responsible for the leak, those people have no place working in the state government.
Earlier Thursday, a group of Latino activists told reporters that the list had sparked widespread fear... "For these 1,300 people, unfortunately that fear has escalated," he said. "There's an arrest warrant out, essentially. That fear never goes away."
Sister Irma, There is definitely an investigation and some people are not only going to be fired, but are going to jail. You can't work a State job and break HIPPA laws. This is serious! Not only were names, adresses, DOB, SS# given, but phone numbers were a part of the list. W-HOLE-LY SMOKES somebody's bum is in deep you know what. I do hope that what has been meant to do these Immigrants harm will be turned into something good. I really hope Comprehensive Immigration Reform will get passed very soon.

I only chant (pray)that the due dates medical records of these women came from a computer hacker and not from their personal physicans. (NUP)

But, as someone who believes in caude and effect some good will come out of this bad behavior of mankind. Say like a full and complete investigation by the civil rights and the human rights divisions as well as the child protective agencys, because unless the laws get change these are potinital American citizens and it will give this country a chance to put it money where its mouth is about unborn children are HUMAN BEINGS..I DOUBT THIS AS THESE CHILDREN ARE NOT COUNTED AS ONE OF gOD'S CHILDREN NOW ARE THEY?!?
