Code Red - Beware Killer Coumadin! (318 hits)

Health Sciences Institute: Code Red Alert -
If you've recently received a free sample pack of Coumadin from your doctor, DO NOT USE IT!

The FDA just issued an urgent recall alert for sample packs of Coumadin in the 1 mg strength--because taking these pills could put you in dire straits.

Bristol-Myers Squibb initiated the recall when they realized that a key ingredient--the one that activates the Coumadin--wasn't working properly, which could make your medication extremely dangerous, if not deadly.

In some cases, the dose may be too high, which can increase your risk of bleeding. For others, the dose could be too low, increasing your risk of heart attack and stroke.

Either way, this free Coumadin sample could end up costing your life.

The unsafe sample packs are from the following lot numbers: Lot# 9A48931A, 9A48931B, 9A48931C, all with expiration dates of January 2012.

Sister Kimberley,
You are correct in what you have stated, but I don't know if you are aware of how Pharmaceudical Industries market their drugs not just thru commercials, but thru doctor's offices.

I had a college friend who when she couldn't find a job after graduating from Journalism, became a Drug representatives. Drug reps are always visiting doctor's offices to hand them free drug samples in order to promote the various Pharmaceudical companies in hopes that doctors will prescribe the meds to patients if the patient and doctor are happy with the results of the drug.

Just the other day while waiting to see my doctor, a drug representative comes strolling up with his bag of goodies to give to my doctor. Many doctors have samples sitting on their shelves~~~ be observant next time you visit your doctor's office.
