Networking, the name seem business like and even prosperous but in today internet world where spamming, untruthfulness, identity thief, are on a rapid pace of destroying small businesses. Networking between businesses for example; if my business have clients who have a special need and my business can’t provide that need, I would direct them to a business source who specializes in that field. Then business you directed your client to will do the same if they can’t provide good quality service for their client.
THE PROBLEM Beware of “We Do It All Businesses” !! These businesses look good on the outside but feed off ideas from other business and incorporate it as a new service they offer. These businesses remind me of relatives, always want something for free. If a business is about finance, can they really provide us with quality entertainment, health, management, catering, retail, education, design, fashion, etc… How many courses in college take to specialize in these fields.
This problem is growing fast I have seen businesses who own social networking sites cringe because it has become a free for all no sense of direction much like the economy today.
SOLVE THE PROBLEM Check out every business and client before giving them your money or your business. Make sure they have the experience and ask to see their portfolio or something they have done in the past. Ask for an earlier they done compared to what or where they are now from the quality stand point. Research what you want done, the net is a very fragile place and can be cruel. Whatever is put out there represents you and you will never get chance to present yourself for the first time. Ask questions, before any work began.
If a business claim they can do it all … why do they use marketing tools that are of less quality. Trade out for services when you have been promoting yourself and doing really well. If your business can do several things as it relates to the field like Health for example; Fitness, Exercise, Medical Issues, Food, all these are part of health.
You will find that most good businesses online may ask for a one time fee. Many people don’t like it but someone has to pay the bill and it’s generally the site owner. Many site owners provide a free section for visitors and a section for members only where all the juicy stuff like money, discounts, joint business offers etc…
Real networking is done there, planned conferences, vacations, special meetings just to help the fellow business person. Be mindful of what you say when you say a whole lot and nothing is being really said. Find quality businesses there are a lot of them out there and they are not usually found in the crowd.
