Global Projects and Haiti-UpClose and Personal (157 hits)
I had the awesome opportunity to go to Haiti last week, in fact, I am just getting my Michigan legs back under me today. It was an emotionally draining yet rewarding mission trip with a team of seven people whose heart and spirit was to serve the hurting people of this nation. I along with Dr. Sabrina Black, president and founder of Global Projects did crisis counseling with the children and youth. We had the opportunity to look into the eyes of Haiti's future. We saw fear, frustration, hopelessness, feeling of being forlorn and uncertainty. The youth are struggling not having school and resources to keep up with their learning. Children are fearful of going to sleep not sure they will be awaken by another tremor. Most of the people will not sleep in their homes. Homes made of cement. They sleep in their cars for those who have them. They sleep in mission and church compounds outside in tents. There are multiple locations all over the area of 'tent city.' Tents made with sheets, plastic, tin, tarp or US Aid bags. They will not go back inside their homes.
Their immediate needs are food, shelter, clothing, medical and emotional. There was one rural area where the pastor if he had money was only able to feed the children one time per week!
There is so much more to do and I hope that you who read this will help my organization give as much to alleviate some of their suffering by providing resources, connections and material to give the children of Haiti more hope and a future.
Global Projects is a faith based community service organization committed to helping the underserved and underrepresented around the world. www.globalprojects.org/313.205.7300
I think you going to Haiti is wonderful. I wish I was equiped to go however, I have started a fundraiser at my local church with the youth every month for Haiti. I know every little bit counts there and my prayers go out to them.
God Bless you!

Hey Pam, WOW! It is hard to believe that just a few days ago we were sitting counseling the children of Haiti with lines out the door waiting to tell their story. God is faithful. He will provide. There is such a great need for Christian counselors to join our next team going in June to provide relief. There is also a need for financial support to help cover the development of the project. Update the website link so that people can contact us to get involved. Thanks for the post. 313-205-7300 www.globalprojects.org Sabrina
