I am stricken with the peculiar curse of being a 21st-century woman who makes more than the man she’s living with — first with a husband for 13 years and now with a new partner. I had a friend who was married to a chef who wouldn't work, because he 'believed' that God wanted him not to work and go into full time pastoral work. Keep in mind he had no church.

That's a good question Sister Lela especially for my friend's husband to answer. If he was reading the good book he should have seen that scripture saying that a man who doesn't provide for his family is worse than an infidel or what about the scripture that says that if a man doesn't work, neither should he eat.
