Illustration of the Week from PreachingToday.com --- Brazilian Drug Lord Loves Local Church (292 hits)
I recently heard from a friend who visited a barrio {an urban district or quarter in a Spanish-speaking country} in São Paulo, Brazil. He grew nervous as he noticed the foot soldiers of drug lords standing guard holding automatic weapons. They were glowering at him, a gringo {a disparaging term for a foreigner especially an American or English person} invading their turf.
"Then the chief drug lord of that neighborhood noticed my T-shirt, which had the logo of a local Pentecostal church. He broke out in a big smile: 'O, evangelicos!' he called out, giving us hugs. Over the years, that church had cared for the children of the barrio, and now we were joyfully welcomed."
I firmly would say that GOD DOES NOT HAVE ANY DEALINGS IN WRONGDOING FOR GAIN

I agree with you that God doesn't deal in wrongdoing; however, I think the illustration was of a missionary who was headed to the local church in a neighborhood with drug lords. It turns out that God used what the devil meant for evil by protecting both the man and that local church by having the drug lords provide protection. We can never know the power of prayer and praying people who know how to dispatch angels of protection to keep us safe from harm. God is good! I guess I should not have named the blog "Are Angels Really Watching Over Us", eh? I'll change the name back to the original title "Brazilian Drug Lord Loves Local Church". Thanks for your comments Sister Garris.
