Breaking Up is Hard to Do (149 hits)

I just want to ask you folks for some advice. Some might think this is a simple request (as the topic), but I don't know how to really deal at the moment. I am 24 years old and believe in my heart of hearts I had found my life partner. I'm young, I know...However, I have never connected with anyone the way I connected with this man. We are truly compatible. And he is in the military and unfortunately is deployed to Afghanistan (since July 2nd of this year). We have been dating since February of this year. We had a rough patch before he left, bc I wasn't sure if we could succeed in the whole year apart deployment. I was right. Long story short...we split completely (no friendship, no nothing). I am dying inside. Feels like I can't function properly. Plus, I felt physically sick for a few days. I would love to hear advice from people who have been through this thing called LOVE. I am really going through it and want to back track, but know I can't get him back. This break up wasn't about anyone cheating...I really feel like it was just too big a test on our relationship too early. He's stubborn, I'm stubborn. And I need help dealing, bc he is all I felt like I had...

Dear Kelly,
You are experiencing what we all have experienced at some point or another--but--rest assured time heals all wounds. The best advice I can give you is to be honest with how you feel, but don't spend too much time dwelling on a break-up. You have probably heard it said that when you love someone or something then let it go-- if it returns it was meant to be, but if it doesn't chalk it up to just another experience. My heart goes out to you and anyone brave enough to date or marry a serviceman.

I dated someone in the military and after all the time APART and games, sometimes we were feeling each other other times we were not. I realized it wasnt for me and he is now married to someone else.

I do poetry so one thing I gotta work on is holding back when I have something in my mind until it explodes, or doing poems that keep it real about what im going through but still holding back some of the feelings so I can seem composed.

Thank you all for the love and support...UPDATE we are friends but creating a stronger bond there first. Going backwards a bit maybe? No, not really, just epanding on what a great friendship that thrived before all the military stuff came in the picture.
