President Barack Obama addressed a joint session of Congress on Wednesday night in an effort to clear up what he called “bogus claims” about health-care reform.
During the speech, the president said misinformation had made Americans nervous about the bill.
“The best example is the claim,” he said, “made not just by radio and cable talk-show hosts, but prominent politicians, that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens.”
One major concern among pro-lifers is a House bill provision directing seniors into “advance care planning consultations.” The language was developed with the help of a leading pro-assisted suicide organization and would allow physician-assisted suicide to be on the list of end of life options in states where assisted suicide is legal...
