THE U.S. SENATE ADMITS: "WE OWE YOU AN APOLOGY"! (345 hits)
Did you catch that all you descendants of African heritage? I almost did not but I am pleased to announce that after 21/2 centuries, the United States Senate apologizes for the enslavement of our forebears, our relatives of years gone by. However, before the shouting commences, it was only a resolution on the Senate's part and per the Washington Post Friday, June 19, 2009, the Resolution cannot stand for the numerous Reparation cases pending here and there. HMMMN! I wonder what is next?
We must wait on a joint congressional move in the federal government's latest attempt to take responsibility for 21/2 centuries of slavery. It's a"hundred years late in coming", one leader said. The long-simmering issue of restitution is something I can take or leave but I would not discourage anyone from writing your senators or congressman to do the "RIGHT THING"---whatever that means to you!
By the way, that's right up there with the "CASH FOR YOUR CLUNKER CAR" Act the Senate has passed. But don't make a move until you have thought this one through. And we'll explore some of those reasons to be cautious at a later date.
