I came home tonight pumped up about meeting and spending some personal time with my Elite Executive National Sales Director Gloria Mayfield Banks. In that time, the group of women who stayed back to speak with her asked and expressed some wonderful questions and thoughts/concerns. As a response to one person's question, God gave me something...Get into the unknown. There is a lot to say about the unknown and I know this will speak to you spiritually but it was also help you in your career with Mary Kay.
The woman asked Gloria about follow up. She just does not like getting on the phone to talk to people. Gloria's response was awesome. She said for her to think of it as her presenting someone with a gift. She then asked the woman to name some things that she has to offer (gift) to her clients. As a result of their conversation, the Holy Spirit led me to share this.
We are often times scared of the unknown, but the unknown is where God is. If you think about it, Satan does not want you to experience the unknown because he knows God can meet you there. There are no limits in the unknown. There are only limits in our comfort zone. The comfort zone is a dangerous place to be. Satan controls our every thought and move there. Not because he has that much power, but because we allow it. In the comfort zone, we rely on what we are used to and as a result we have tons of excuses as to why we cannot do things or be successful. Let me break it down for you. Scripture reads..."for he has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind". We stay in the comfort zone because of fear. We never get to the next level because of fear. Let me break it down even further...fear robs us of our power. We lose the power God has given us to be conquerers because we speak nonsense out of our mouths. Life and death (power) lies in tongue. That's the main way it robs us of our power. Fear robs us of love because if we do not love ourselves, how can we love others. As it pertains to Mary Kay, how can we bless or "gift" our product and/or the business opportunity to someone else if we don't even understand who we are (loving ourselves). That's the confidence that we have in ourselves. If we lack confidence, please believe that it will be translated to those around you. People are going to pick up on it. That is really a lack of love for ourselves and sometimes others. The woman who asked Gloria that question did not understand who she was in Christ to even express what it was she had to offer. It hurt me that this remarkable woman could not even think of more than two things that she had to offer. This is what fear will rob you of if you let it. Fear also robs us of our sound mind. Think about it long and hard. Fear only brings doubt. Doubt creeps in because of our thought patterns. We need to control what thoughts we entertain. When you look at fear as only a distraction you can see just how small it really is. It's only there to keep you from where you are suppose to go. We need to stay focused on what God has in store for us.
For example, my husband called me the other day and said something that upset me. I simply told him that I needed to hang up and call him back later. I didn't even have a dialogue with him. I understood that it was a distraction. What he said was suppose to allow doubt to set in but I immediately hung up and got my date book and began making calls. I booked 3 classes in 15 minutes. I was determined to stay focused on what it is I had to do. I knew that it was just a ploy to keep me from what God had in store for me. I had (past tense) a tendency to quit right at the last minute at the end of the month. I allowed guilt and fear to set in. I thought that I was a bad wife and mother because I put too much time into Mary Kay. Not so, but I chose to believe that. When I got over the fear of getting to the next level and wrapped my head around the fact that I deserve to be blessed in my career with Mary Kay, things started happening.
We owe it to ourselves to get to the next level and experience the unknown. I felt a shift in my spirit at the Be Remarkable weekend. I had never seen a room full of beautiful women so happy and excited about life. It really blessed me. I would have never known that feeling if I hadn't pushed myself to qualify for the trip. I felt a shift again the other night. God is preparing me for greater things and God is moving quickly. This is the year of the open door. God is going to give his children the desires of our hearts. What are you desiring? Not only that, but what are you expecting? Do you expect to stay the same? Do you expect to sale only $100 at your skin care class because you have prejudged? I mean, really...what are you expecting? Write it down, make it plain. Get a vision and then a mission. Don't let fear of the unknown stop you dead in your tracks. I'm here to tell you that it's not what you say, it's what you do that counts. People are waiting on us. We are holding blessings up not just for ourselves but for others, by walking in fear. Once we gain what I call "breakthrough mentality", God will open up the heavens and release what he's withheld.
Think about it this way, our thoughts become words, our words become actions. Our actions become habits and our habits form character. Finally, our character determines our destiny. How are you determining your destiny? You will never know what you can have until you are exposed to it. If you walk in fear, you will never be exposed to anything different. You will stay in the same thought pattern and stuck in the same way of living. What we don't always realize is that we have to expose ourselves to different things so that we can then expose them to someone else. That's what this business is all about. Blessing (exposing) someone else. Gloria says that if we get in that mindset we can then go far in our careers. It's so true. We have to start thinking bigger and better. Others lives depend on it. People are waiting on you and me to step out of our comfort zones and step into the realm of the unknown. There is nothing to be afraid of because God is waiting there with open arms.
I pray this has blessed you as it has blessed me. I have gone to another level in my life (as a person, wife and mother) and my career. I just had to make a decision to get out of my comfort zone. I pray you make the right decision for your life as well.
