Big girls!! (494 hits)

There is a fine line between loving yourself where you are and letting yourself believe a lie...
I truly believe that it is important to come to a place where you decide that no matter what, you will love yourself and be proud of the person you are. If you don't love you how can you expect others to? But the key phrase here is "be proud of the person you are". See you can be proud of your person, but disappointed in your health! When people brag "I am big and proud of it", I don't believe them. I think they have taught themselves to believe a lie in order to protect their self esteem. Our self esteem and positive self image is at its highest when we are as healthy as we can be.
I know this because I have been there. I have had to learn that I must love myself where I am, but also love myself enough to change what may hinder or reduce my quality of life!
We have to leave self denial behind because it limits our growth. I know others sometimes think they are better and society does not make it easy so when you are big you have to proclaim your beauty. But don't let that become denial. You can love you, but not love where you are at the moment.
So...big girls-love who you are, and love yourself enough to push yourself into healthy living.
AND you are NOT what you weight!

..."You can love you, but not love where you are at the moment".

Tiffany,
Congratulation to you on your new outlook on healthy living!!
Not meaning to play the devil's advocate here, but what if a big person loves themselves and also loves where they are in their moment? Is there really something wrong with a woman feeling proud of themselves as a big girl? Not everyone who is big is Unhealthy and not everyone who is slim is Healthy.
I applaud the Doc on the 50 million pound challenge, but I think there is a misconception that one's overall weight is the number one sign of one's overall health or one's self worth.

Although obesity Can cause health problems such as high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure--- not everyone who is big has health problems. I know it may be hard to conceptualize this, but there are some big girls that work out like there are some slim women that don't work out at all. Shouldn't we rather than make assumptions or personal judgements about our big sisters--- applaud them for their healthy dose of self esteem and self worth? Just food for thought.
