The global economy is stumbling, as it rearranges its perceptions and governments rehaul their accounting books, called a Balance of Payments (BOP.) A balance of payments is a system for documenting economic transactions during a given period of time, between and among residents of one country and residents of the rest of the world in a globally consistent manner. This information is published by governments and international institutions, such as the World Bank and is readily available at most libraries.
