Manager, IT Assets
Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing the acquisition, deployment, management, and disposal of IT hardware and software assets across the University of Maryland Medical System. Ensure compliance with licensing agreements, maximize asset utilization, and align asset management practices with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to drive operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Work is performed under limited supervision. Direct report to the Director, End User Computing.
Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of all IT hardware and software assets throughout their lifecycle, from
procurement through disposal.
• Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements, manage renewals, and optimize licensing costs.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs related to IT asset acquisition, deployment, and
maintenance.
• Develop and enforce policies and procedures to manage the complete lifecycle of IT assets.
• Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
• Generate regular reports and dashboards to monitor asset performance, usage, and compliance, and to
support data-driven decision-making.
• Collaborate with vendors to negotiate contracts, secure favorable pricing, and ensure timely delivery and support of IT products and services.
• Evaluate and refine IT asset management processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and value delivery.
• Partner with internal teams to align asset management initiatives with IT and organizational objectives;
serve as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development and oversight of the IT asset management budget, ensuring expenditures are aligned with operational needs and strategic goals.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, problem-solving, innovation, continuous learning, and a one-team mindset.
• Perform managerial functions including hiring, training and development, and preparing performance
reviews in accordance with UMMS policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
