Environmental Planning Seasonal Worker
The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (DOT) is accepting applications for an Environmental Planning Seasonal Worker in the Bureau of Policy and Planning, Natural Resources Planning Unit within the Office of Environmental Planning (OEP).
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
- Full Time, Seasonal, 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day.
- Anticipated start date of May 1, 2026 and ending by September 30, 2026.
- Monday-Friday, First Shift.
- Positions based in Newington, CT.
THE ROLE
We are seeking applicants with a botany, plant science, plant biology or biology, background for the Natural Resources Planning Unit. The Natural Resources Planning Unit conducts resource coordination, completes consultations for Federal and State listed species and fisheries, performs wetland delineations, habitat assessments, as well as post-construction wetland and species mitigation monitoring for CTDOT projects and programs.
The Seasonal position in the Natural Resources Planning Unit would gain experience in fulfilling the following duties:
- Assist with conducting vegetation surveys and preparing annual reports for conservation areas identified by CTDOT’s Candidate Conservation Agreement with Assurances for the Monarch Butterfly (CCAA) program.
- Assist with conducting vegetation/habitat surveys
- Assist in performing wetland and ordinary high-water delineations for CTDOT design projects.
- Assist in preparing GIS maps and supporting documentation for natural resource reviews and coordination documents associated with determining permitting needs for design projects.
- Assist in preparing listed species consultations and fisheries coordination documents for planning and design projects.
- Assist in developing and updating mapping wetland creation sites, fisheries enhancements, as well as conservation areas for the Monarch Butterfly (CCAA).
- Performing other related duties as required.

Knowledge of

Knowledge to degree necessary for dealing with and understanding an individual’s behavior;
