Manager, Professional & Continuing Education FT/PT: Full-Time
General Position Description:
Oversees, creates and implements strategic goals for the Accelerated Skills Training and Professional & Continuing Education programs within the discipline area(s). Plans, organizes, develops strategies, and provides feedback to promote and direct student learning in alignment with Valencia College’s learning centered values.
Salary Range: $53,956 - $60,700 per year
Description of Job Function:
1. Manages and monitors the assigned program(s) performance and revenue and ensures the program offerings meet industry standards and best practices. Proactively communicates program needs and expectations, obtains feedback from instructors and students on program effectiveness, analyzes and makes recommendations to improve quality and profitability. .
Required Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions.
Required Field of Study:
Significant years oftraining, instructional, operational or program management experience in an advanced skills training or related field(s).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of workplace learning, training, and development.
2. Knowledge of adult learning principles, concepts, and how to apply them to solutions.
3. Ability to coach employees on their performance.
4. Detail oriented; able to effectively organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines and prioritizing changing needs.
5. Ability to maintain accurate records on key data such as finances, student information, and program results.
6. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to proactively solve problems and make evaluative judgments.
8. Ability to communicate and collaborate with business, industry, organizations, and agencies.
9. Ability to conduct research, make recommendations, and create mutually successful solutions.
10. Proficient in technical, audio-visual, and computer skills.

General Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment and throughout the College’s worksites and grounds. Within the professional office environment, the employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet and occasionally moderate.
While operating outside of the office environment, the employee may be exposed to elements including but not limited to wet/humid weather, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and unpleasant odors. The role may also involve hazards or physical risks, which require comprehending and following basic safety precautions and may require Personal Protection Equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to remaining stationary, moving, ascending/descending, positioning self, reaching, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-100 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
