Job Description
Family Services Consultant- Rhode Island
Provides in-home intervention to children and their families utilizing a skill based, solution focused model to help families adopt positive solutions to problems through the teaching of skills and behavioral techniques accessing community resources and support.

Pay Rates Starting at $23/hr +

Additional Pay Differential for Bilingual Skills

Major Responsibilities & Duties:

▪️Provide safe and effective services while adhering to all safety policies and mandated reporting requirements.
▪️Deliver intervention services for In-Home Family Services (IHFS).
▪️Build strong relationships with families and community resources, including schools, medical professionals, law enforcement, and social service agencies.
▪️Conduct screenings and assessments to determine program eligibility and create service plans.
▪️Teach and support families in developing functional skills and positive behaviors.
▪️Monitor family progress toward goals and update service plans regularly.
▪️Provide outreach and prevention services, including community education programs.
▪️Maintain required direct contact with families and remain available 24/7 for crisis intervention.
▪️Train school personnel and others on managing challenging behaviors.
▪️Promote family self-determination by connecting them to community services and resources.
▪️Educate families on physical health, preventive care, and medical needs.
▪️Support families in utilizing spiritual and cultural strengths to achieve goals.
▪️Complete administrative tasks, reports, and documentation accurately and on time.
▪️Ensure compliance with all program, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
▪️Travel to family homes and other locations using personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed).
▪️May become certified as a Common Sense Parenting Instructor and conduct courses as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

▪️Understanding of public assistance and social services systems.
▪️Knowledge of interventions such as risk assessment and crisis intervention.
▪️Ability to work independently with flexibility, integrity, and professionalism.
▪️Familiarity with community resources and human services organizations.
▪️Strong communication skills with individuals at all levels while maintaining confidentiality.
▪️Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
▪️Knowledge of Boys Town model and fidelity of care.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

▪️Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.
▪️Minimum 1 year of experience working with children and families.
▪️Valid driver’s license with good driving record; annual MVR check required.
▪️Ability to provide own transportation and meet auto insurance requirements.
▪️Available for crisis response and non-traditional hours (early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays).
▪️Based on business need, bilingual skills may be required.
▪️Certification or licensure may be required based on location or contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with children and families in community-based programs or Boys Town programs.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Ability to maintain strength, agility, and endurance during stressful situations.
Work in varied environments, including homes with substandard conditions and outdoor settings.
Exposure to weather conditions and domestic pets during home visits.
