ABOUT THE POSITION

Traffic Signal Systems Timing Engineer – Tampa, FL

VHB’s growing Tampa, FL team is seeking an experienced Traffic Signal Systems Timing Engineer to join our Transportation practice.  The successful candidate will have experience in traffic operations, with traffic signal retiming experience.

Responsibilities

• Work on projects involving traffic signal timing optimization and implementation to maximize transportation system throughput (using SYNCHRO, Tru-Traffic, and similar programs)
• Experience working with ATMS software, controllers, and traffic signal cabinets
• Complete traffic safety and operational improvement studies for localized intersections and corridors
• Provide analyses of traffic safety issues and crash reduction measures

Skills & Abilities

• Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
• The ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently
• A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
• Excellent attention to detail
• Experience with MicroStation
• Expertise with Synchro and SimTraffic; experience with VISSIM a plus

Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• 5-8+ years of professional traffic consulting experience
• FL Professional Engineer License
