Maintenance Technician II – Machinist / Tool & Die (2nd Shift)

As a Maintenance Technician II – Machinist/ Tool & Die, you will serve as a technical expert on tooling and die equipment, performing troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and product quality. You will also support and mentor other maintenance technicians, helping apply best practices in machining, dies, and molds, while staying current on state-of-the-art methods and developments in the field.
Pay Rate: $38.32/hour + $1.50 shift differential for non-standard shifts.

How You'll Create Possibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair dies, molds, and other tooling to ensure production of high-quality parts and consistent process performance.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with operations on installing, upgrading, and calibrating equipment to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Perform TIG, MIG, and stick welding, as well as precision hand work and heat treatment of die components.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems, equipment and pumps.
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Operate mills, lathes, and precision surface grinders to repair or fabricate tooling components.
  • Adjust manufacturing and test equipment to maintain product and process accuracy.
  • Complete all required maintenance documentation and utilize tracking/reporting systems per established procedures.
  • Follow all established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment to maintain a safe work environment. Ensure proper lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and other safety measures are consistently applied to prevent injury or equipment damage.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area consistent with 5S and housekeeping expectations.
  • Assist other maintenance technicians with equipment repairs and breakdowns.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

Required Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED and one of the following:
    • Associate degree in Machine Technology, Tool & Die, or a related trade with at least 3 years of experience
    • Equivalent trade school certification or license with 3+ years experience in machining and/or tool & die in manufacturing.
    • Technical training through military service with 5+ years of relevant mechanical, machining, or tool & die maintenance experience
  • Proficiency operating mills, lathes, and surface grinders.
  • Plastic injection molding and/or progressive metal stamping and pierce die experience.
  • Knowledge of valve gate systems and repair methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • MIG, TIG, and SMAW (stick) welding certification required—or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Proficient in the safe use of powered hand tools, air/electric guns, and vibratory tools.
  • Flexibility to work overtime,  weekends, holidays, and shutdown as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across shifts and departments.
  • Strong mechanical background with experience in tool and die or mold repair.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Capable of obtaining and maintaining:
    • Annual medical clearance for respirator use and plant-wide access.
    • Forklift certification.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 35 lbs.
  • Frequent walking, standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and bending.
  • Manual dexterity with both hands and hand-eye coordination for precise tool and die work.
  • Talk and hear, use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
  • Exposure to noise, mechanical equipment, varying temperatures, and occasionally outdoor conditions.
