KBR is seeking an Avionics Manager to support our SPACE SUIT DESIGN TEAM for KBRs Science and Space division.
The Avionics Manager will be responsible for the supervision of the daily avionics design, assembly, integration and test activities in the facility. Candidate must be highly organized, work well in pressured situations with diplomacy, possess the ability to manage multiple projects, in a multi- contract environment. The candidate must have experience with leading complex systems projects, integrating with other organizations such as Logistics, Production, Safety, Quality & Mission Assurance, Maintenance and Operations, and interacting and meeting the needs of the customer. Prior experience with project management, NASA customer interaction and integrated team leadership is desired.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the team that develops, tests, and certifies avionics hardware that controls Life Support Systems.
Establish strong working relationships with on-site Customer Leadership Team, Systems Engineering, respective internal/external stakeholders, and NASA customers.
Lead, collaborate, and conduct program design and safety reviews with internal development teams and NASA customers for commercial spacesuit development.
Provide or lead project management efforts for managing, and mitigating schedule, budget, and risk activities.
Write Statements of Work and manage vendors in Level of Effort and Milestone contracts.
Provide guidance for hardware and software systems, technical discussions, organization, and architecture development.
Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership.
Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensuring team conducts work that meets company and industry standards
Fostering a culture that empowers employees and fosters personal responsibility
Coordinating resource prioritization and allocation within the department
Ensuring that the teams responsibilities are completed within budget and schedule
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree in engineering (aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or related discipline) is required
A minimum of 10+ years of management experience in NASA/DOD flight hardware development
Experience leading technical teams larger than 5 people
Experience in Life Support Systems or other Criticality 1 development and testing of avionics hardware
Prior experience in formal test and verification activities including flight hardware
Track record of delivering outcomes in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges
Proven to deliver high quality results under tight deadlines
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as the ability to operate with situational awareness, and to be diplomatic in critical situations
The ability to demonstrate leadership experience on projects, technical and otherwise
The ability to demonstrate project monitoring and control experience
The ability to interact across organizations and all levels of personnel
Candidate must be effective at handling multiple tasks, flexible, and have the ability to responds quickly to changes, as well as the ability to manage manpower, priorities and customer requirements
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of engineering standards and specifications, as well as engineering drawing standards, and specifications
Familiarity with aerospace projects.
Advanced degree (Technical Masters, MBA, or similar)
WORK LOCATION
This position is located onsite at customer facility.
