The Director of Generative AI leads the strategy and execution of large language models (LLMs) and agentic AI across Danahers Diagnostics Platform. The candidate will own the LLM/agent roadmap, build governed multi-modal datasets (text, tabular, device logs, lab results, EHR/claims), develop and validate production-grade RAG, fine-tuned LLMs, and task-specific agents, and integrate results into products, studies, and evidence programs (scientific, regulatory, market access, and post-market). Youll collaborate with clinical, regulatory/quality, R&D, medical affairs, IT/security, and our Operating Companies (OpCos) to deliver measurable patient and business impact.
This position reports to the Vice President, Chief Data Officer Digital Products Development and is part of the Chief Innovation Office and will be fully remote.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Conduct RWE analytics of EHR/claims/registries/device telemetry to drive biomarker discovery and development.
Communicate impact to clinical, technical, and executive audiences via clear narratives, dashboards, and publications/white papers.
Orchestrate cross-OpCo, AI Enterprise, and academic/consortia collaborations; manage vendors and open-source participation where strategic.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Advanced degree in Biomedical/Imaging Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (PhD preferred; Masters considered).
6+ years of experience post education in diagnostics, medtech, or biopharma.
Demonstrated expertise building production LLM systems: RAG, fine-tuning, tool-use/agents, prompt engineering, evaluation (faithfulness, factuality), and optimization.
Hands-on proficiency in Python/R and imaging/ML, causal/survival/longitudinal methods, and visualization tools.
Proven experience analyzing RWE/RWD (EHR, claims, registries, device logs) for clinical, regulatory, or market access impact.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
Ability to travel 20%
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Background in oncology, infectious diseases, acute care, and/or neurodegenerative disorders.
Publications or conference presentations in LLMs/GenAI, clinical NLP, RAG/agents, or evaluation; ability to translate complex analyses into manuscripts and executive materials.
Deploying LLMs at scale on Azure (including Azure OpenAI and OSS models such as Llama/Mistral) with modern data platforms (Snowflake/Databricks/Delta Lake, MLflow).

The annual salary range for this role is $200k-$230k. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.#LI-Remote
