Exemption Denied:
A devout Muslim man tried anxiously to be avoid being called to serve for jury duty because of his religious beliefs was denied of his plea. Despite of his written; and oral request based on his beliefs he was not granted to be omitted to serve on a recent jury and therefore, must serve without anticipation. The man, whose name is not given wanted to be granted permission not to serve discovered that the judge of the court could not grant him omission due his strong beliefs. The man expressed that the reason he wanted to be exempted was having to do with his judgement decision on someone else. He voiced it was not his religious preference to judge anyone-- since he believes sternly he should not judge another human, whether if they are guilty or innocent.
However to no avail, he could not disobey the law of the country which requires all citizens of the country to abide by the laws of the land. This meant that even if his religion was against it, the law of the land forbade any exemption to serving on a jury. Despite of his mild mannered opposition of argument , he was forced in complying to serve since it was his country's law. The judge discussed the matter closely with the Muslim man and although sympathic of his religious practice of being a Muslim, there was no way in accordance with the law of the country that would support him being exempt for that reason. The man finally consented signing the documentation to serve on the jury. After, days of discussions, the man will be serving on the Old Baily Central Criminal Court in England and Wales.
