ROUND ONE: POETRY'S OPEN POST!! (875 hits)

Celebrate poetry...Key in a verse to share; or a Spoken Word
Celebrate poetry in April 2012

It's expression...

Shakespeare starts it off..

Sonnet IV

Unthrifty loveliness, why dost thou spend
Upon thy self thy beauty's legacy?
And being frank she lends to those are free;
The bounteous largess given thee to give?
Profitless usurer, why dost thou use
So great a sum of sums, yet canst not live?
For having traffic with thy self alone,
Thou of thy self thy sweet self dost deceive;
Then how when nature calls thee to be gone,
What acceptable audit canst thou leave?
Thy unused beauty must be tombed with thee,
Which, used, lives th' executor to be.
[William Shakespeare]

Fantasy Knight

My Knight

I am waiting for my Knight
on a horse
To carry me off.
Mystic and wonderful knight.

The day breaks and my knight
has not yet arrived.

There in the field,
I picked daises
and recite

"He loves me, ...He loves me"
Never saying
"He loves me not!"

He loves me...
it's all I can say.

Then saying it again,
he takes my hand,
lifts me up,
carries me
to the horse where
we ride off into the
land of love...
Forever.

I AM A PEOPLE

O' hark the call to hear

that

I am a people.

I drive on the life way with
different roads,
paths
and juggle with
tracking in rooted jungles.

I am a people

I cultivate a ground of
dirt and soil
and in wintry garments
I wrap my cold shoulders.

The earth I share with
other people
who have shovels
and garden instruments
and their tilling
have cause or effect.

I am a people.
From toe
to foot
to leg
and ankle
to thigh
and midriff
and arms
and from neck
to face.
