Pennsylvania Prosecutors: State Could Have Shut Down ‘ Abortion House of Horrors’ Years Ago (617 hits)

Prosecutors spent two hours today telling two Pennsylvania Senate committees about the “house of horrors” in Philadelphia where babies were killed after surviving abortions.

The departments of Health and State could have shut down Kermit Gosnell’s abortion clinic years ago, prosecutors said. A grand jury report revealed the state had failed to inspect any of its 22 abortion clinics for more than 15 years.

“We want better from our public servants,” the grand jury said. “We trust that their actions will be reviewed, and that they will be held accountable.”

Haven't they established limits! That prevent them from taken the life of an infant that survives an abortion attempt. What type of conscious does it take to do this job!

...but the priority is protecting the one who cannot protect themselves...

Absolutely and if the thing called abortion was not allowed then there would be no need to protect the unborn with the obvious thing being the Abortion House of Horrors would probably have not even gone unregulated for the time it did. Just saying....

Great follow up Jen! This should help keep a sharp eye on those who have not met the standards. Now, I understand federal funding is readily waiting to be cut from many abortion services. It's more to be seen and heard.

@ Sister Irma,
I understand your stance, but honestly not everyone is mature enough to make decisions that deal with life and death. I've seen it over and over in the health sector.

@ Miisrael,
Thank you for your kind words and I am watching the Fed Govt. very closely regarding this matter of funding Planned Parenthood which does offer abortions to those who may not be able to afford it themselves. Here are some interesting facts I found online:

While most abortions are done in private clinics and are not covered by government funding, there are a few government grants and contracts provided to abortion clinics. Planned Parenthood, for example, receives about $270 million annually from government funded grants (see Resources below).

Sister Irma,
I don't think you classify as someone who willfully ends a pregnancy. Now a days, doctors sew the cervix to keep it from opening prematurely and put mothers on bedrest. Besides no matter what reasoning people come up with to end a pregnancy... most of them are selfish. Birth control or abstinence would be a better and less expensive alternative to abortion... keeping in mind that the abortions due to rape or incest is 1%.

Judge: No Delay in Case Against Philadelphia Abortionist
Posted by CitizenLink Staff
(Caution: graphic content.)

Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell, his wife and eight employees were in court today seeking a preliminary evidence hearing. Common Pleas Court Judge Renee Cardwell Hughes denied the request, saying the grand jury report was sufficient and the case will move forward.

Gosnell has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, infanticide and performing illegal late-term abortions. The grand jury report said that Gosnell routinely severed the spinal cords of babies who survived abortions at his clinic.

“The doctor, or his employees acting at his direction, deliberately killed them as part of the normal course of business,” the grand jury reported. “Surgical abortions in Pennsylvania, performed up to 24 weeks of gestational age, are legal. Killing living babies outside the womb is not.”

Last week, Gosnell and his wife, Pearl, asked Hughes for a public defender even though records show they own 17 properties in four states, and a boat. Prosecutors say Gosnell brought in about $1.8 million a year.

Hughes ordered the Gosnells to hire an attorney. They have retained Philadelphia defense attorney Jack McMahon, who is a former prosecutor and a former Republican candidate for district attorney.

The next court date is March 2.

How Pro-Lifers ‘Created’ Dr. Gosnell
Friday, February 11, 2011 at 12:00 AM

Blaming others for one’s own faults is a human condition that goes back to the book of Genesis. It’s so prevalent that when someone accepts responsibility for his or her actions, it’s refreshing. But left-wing commentator Katha Pollitt of The Nation struck in new low in passing the buck when, in a recent op-ed, she hinted that the pro-life movement is responsible for the horrific conditions found in Dr. Kermit Gosnell’s Philadelphia abortion clinic. We’re not making this up.

Gosnell is the doctor who catered to immigrants and low-income minority women to perform abortions at virtually any stage of pregnancy. Except, as it turned out, he didn’t perform abortions in many cases; he is charged with seven counts of first-degree murder for cases in which the babies in question were born alive and then killed outside the womb. ...

@Jen, as I have said before where do I fit in because my body was born with a defected cervix and in the 5th month I automatically abourt because there is no room left in my bldy for the baby...if my husband had not been in the Marines in the 60s where we could automatically have SPECIALIST to see me and follow me then most likely I would have never learned any thing about this...will i go to hell for aborting three of my children...and why I always say please put education and truth in before we start throwing around religion and sin, ect...

NOw what really get to me is just yesterday I heard about this NEW drug to help people who have early abortions...it ws said thie pill was invented because no one knew why this happens...Jen my oldest child to live will be 47 next month...the sorry not pill but shot will be given each week...

Jen I got a shot eac week until time to put on teh clamp (as a nurse you most likely know what I speak of...now my point about education and truth...when my daughter was a ten ager I get this letter telling me if Ihad taken DSL and had had female children that they would mostly have a rare form of cancer to have them checked each year, but if they were able to get pregnant they would not have to worry about this...naturally the military have no record of my treatments of either of my chioldre that lived and they wer born in different military bases...

DSL was a harmone created fo rC-O-W-S!!!! Jen, I actually just shut it all out of my mind that this must be this same drug only renamed!!!! god only knows thousand and thousands of people have to die before anyone even looks at what is in it and with the ads today it soen not matter if it harms you or kill you after allthey do warn you don't they...

the human life is not worth anything as it interfers with the money makings...are there even any class on abortions, Jen, MIISRAEL,,,or just the usual fear, ect. (NUP)
