Question for Religious Readers: Which Son Was Sacrificed: Issac or Ishmael? (753 hits)
Jews, Christians and Muslims agree; Abraham, the friend of God, is an example of pure and unconditional righteousness and faith. The love that Abraham displayed towards God is clearly seen in Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his only beloved son. All three religions do not dispute this fact.
I was listening to some interesting commentary from a Christian bible study on-line and I heard someone say that Muslims all over the world believe it was not Issac that was to be sacrificed, but it was in fact Ishmael that was placed upon the altar.
Where they do disagree on, however, is the identity of the sacrificial child. Christian Believe: The Bible states that this child was Isaac. Muslims believe that scribes later corrupted the original reading from Ishmael to Isaac...
Muslims on the other hand feel that Ishmael was the one offered up by Abraham. They believe that the Holy Bible supports this by its declaration that Abraham offered his only son. Ishmael was Abraham's only son for over 13 years, which would make it impossible for Isaac to be the chld of sacrifice. (Cf. Genesis 16:16, 21:5).
Disclaimer: I do not endorse any of the videoes, but merely post them as examples of people trying to explain which son Abraham was to sacrife. I don't really see why we argue about it since both sons and their seeds were blessed.

Do that which you are commanded, Inshâ’ Allâah, you shall find me As-Sâbirûn (the patient)." 103. Then, as they had both submitted themselves to the Will of Allâah, and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead for slaughtering;
104. We called out to him: "O Ibrâheem!
105. You have fulfilled the dream!" We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers).
106. That indeed was a Great trial.
107. And We ransomed his son with a great sacrifice (a ram);
108. And We left for him the Greatest remembrance from later generations.
109. "Salâm be upon Ibrâheem!"
110. Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers).
111. He was one of Our believing slaves.
112. And We gave him the good news of Ishâq (Isaac) - a Prophet from the righteous.
113. We blessed him and Ishâq (Isaac). And of their progeny are some that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves.

And Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah) to the House (Ka‘bah ) is a duty that mankind owes to Allâah, those who can afford the expenses (for one’s conveyance, provision and residence); and whoever disbelieves and denies Hajj, then he is a disbeliever of Allâah, then Allâah stands not in need of any of the ‘Âlamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists) 98."O people of the Scripture (Jews/Christians)! Why do you reject the Ayât of Allâah (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations) while Allâah is Witness to what you do?" 99. Say: "People of the Scripture (Jews/Christians)! Why do you stop those who have believed, from the Path of Allâah, seeking to make it seem crooked, while you are witnesses to Mohamed صلى الله عليه وسلم as a Messenger of Allâah and AlIslâam (Allâah’s religion,-to worship none but Him Alone)]? And Allâah is not unaware of what you do." 100. Believers! If you obey a group of those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians), they would render you disbelievers after you have believed!

Robert Hagar if you will was not Abraham’s wife. Sarah by all accounts was Abraham’s wife.
I have been telling you all for a long time now that race has profound importance. Abraham and Sarah were of the same race, but Hagar was not, am I right. Hagar was Sarah and Abraham’s bondwoman.
The son that was to be sacrificed was Isaac. Abraham, Sarah and Isaac were of the same race, Jewish people.
We came to see that God advised Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away and not Sarah and Isaac.
You all need to do some analytical thinking and not be swayed by your religious beliefs, which is difficult for any of you all to do. I am neither a Christian nor a Muslim therefore, I can think much clearer. You all are Christians and Muslims; therefore, you all have difficulties thinking objectively. Am I making any sense with you all?
Again, the son that was to be sacrificed was Isaac. The Bible was written long before the Quran was. Consequentially, the truth of this matter would be more so in the Bible than in the Quran.
Furthermore, neither one of these religion is our religion. Black America’s religion is LIFE.

@ Brother Rob ~ my inspiration~ thanks again the great scholarship! I find the reading very interesting. If we (Muslims/Jews/Christians) agree on that Ibrahim /Abraham was a friend of God Allah, why do we argue about which son was sacrificed except to continue to sew discord amongst two brother's seeds.
Is it not true that both brothers loved their father and were present to bury him. Is it not common for siblings to fight, but at the end of the day when someone outside the family is attacking them they stick together?
Are they (Ishael/Issac) not both seeds of Ibrahim/Abraham? In the African traditions wives pray for a male seed and the first son is always the heir and receives his father's inheritance. Not so? Isn't that the cause for discord amongst Esau and Jacob?
Since Ishmael was the first son irrespective of which woman/wife (not Western tradition but African tradition ~ a man and a woman who live together and have children are considered husband and wife) gave birth to him.
I speak not by commandment, but I Jen Fad have discerned rightly over this matter just as the Apostle Paul spoke concerning his wisdom regarding marriage and singles. As far as I'm concerned they both were loved by Allah/God and blessed.
