Start a plan. First take the time to narrow how much you want to save, and try to set up a realistic goal.
Create a budget. Cut allot of things out of your budget that you don’t really need. If you like going out to eat, try cooking and bring food to work. If you like buying movies, try renting, and start a membership with a set amount you can afford. Your financial affairs should be run like a business.
Hide your money from yourself. Interest rates are low right now, so placing your money in Checking account is just as good as having it in a savings account, especially since you find them free with no maintenance fees.
Pay into your savings as if its a bill. Many people take 10 percent of their paycheck and bonus checks into a separate account. Consider a reasonable amount for yourself, that won’t later interfere with unexpected expenses.
Do not used credit cards. Try to use cash for your purchases and never pay your bills with credit. When doing that, you’re placing yourself in more debt. If you don't have the cash to buy it now; that means you don't need it or can't afford it!
Take on a second job. "If your looking to save immediately then find a second job may get you to your goal". A part-time jobs is great to have, even if its just on the weekends, or if its selling "Avon" to your friends. The point is that its extra income, and its an addition to what you were bringing in.
