Lord, Why Me…….. Often when trial and tribulation come in our lives, the first thing we say is Lord Why Me? Come on now you know you have said this too; I know I’m not the only one. I have heard that people don’t like change, I tend to differ with that statement, it’s not that people don’t like change… they don’t like changing. So often we get in our comfort zones without realizing that in all actually it’s the danger zone. We bind the hand of God in our lives, we think we have arrived because we have certain job, or we live in affluent community, our education or financial status. It is my belief that it is this kind of thinking and attitude that leads to complacency. I have a friend who recently said to me that she knew she was not where God wanted her to be, but was too afraid of moving out of the place where she was. She felt like she could not move forward and yet was too afraid to turn around. In the midst of this God rocked her world and the first thing she cried out was “Lord, Why Me”. Immediately she went a victims mentality, then she started thinking that God was punishing her for something she had done or did not do. It was at this time that I reminded her, to seek God and His wisdom in this situation and instead of seeing it as a victim, visualize the situation as the victor!!!! Look at it from the perspective of {WHAT IS GOD DOING FOR ME OR TRYING TO RELEASE IN MY HANDS, for MY GREATER PURPOSE}. God has a purpose in everything that may transpire in our lives, His word tells us that” His thought of us are good and not evil, to bring us to an expected end”. And if I am to believe that God is the great architect and orchestrator of all things, then I am led to believe that the good and the bad that happens in my life is meant for a greater purpose. Remember when your momma told you not to do something, or to do something and for whatever reason to did just the opposite. Well if you mom was anything like mine, you got that butt whipped, and she would say the infamous “This is hurting me, More than it is hurting you”…… yeah right. After that whipping you knew not replicate that action again. The same thing holds true as we journey through life overall. God is shaping and molding us, we don’t have enough of anything within ourselves to move ourselves along this life’s journey, so often God in His infinite wisdom will shake us or rock our world by stretching us by means of trials and tribulations. This is when we often cry out Lord, Why Me? God is preparing and equipping us for our ultimate destiny and purpose. 2 Timothy 1:7... For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Remember to embrace that fact and look at everything in our lives as lessons rather than just painful or hurtful situations, we will be a better people and be able to serve God and His people more effective and efficiently.
