When it comes to achieving your target weight…don’t look at it as how much you have to lose…instead look at it as how much you stand to gain. This time the approach has to be different. You need to develop a lifestyle plan for a lifetime change. So what is there to gain you ask? More than 300,000 lives could be saved every year if Americans maintained a healthy weight. Obesity is the second most common preventable cause of death in the United States with smoking being the number one cause. Being overweight puts you at risk for other health problems. You also increase your chances of developing other diseases – type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, varicose veins, and high blood pressure, some forms of cancer, bone and joint disease, gallbladder disease, and some skin abnormalities. It is clear now to see there are many benefits of weight management. You not only lower your chances of developing some serious chronic health problems but you also will feel better, inside and out. Weight management has to be approached as a lifetime of lifestyle change and you begin with one change at a time.
