This is a lot of work. NO I am not talking about the superficial stuff. I am not even talking about all the tasks we undertake, you know mother, wife, nurse, teacher, chauffer, soccer or football mom, church goer, personal assistant to every one--not to mention our professional lives.
Just being. Holding our own , staying grounded and healthy both spiritually, emotionally and physically. Maya was right on when she said we are all phenomenal women. At each decade our priorities shift. Maya Angelou is now in her 80's as is Dorothy Height of the National Council of Negro women. A little less for the wear, but still living vibrant constructive purpose filled lives.
So I ask myself how will I enjoy and contribute during my next decade? It now seems that all of those aphorisms, about life begins at 40..then it was upped to 50..now it's 60, have no real impact. They truly are numbers.
Just like there is no book on parenting, there is no book on nearing higher numbers gracefully. So we each pioneer on. There are really marvelous examples of women as the french say of " une femme d'un certain age" with their appreciation of women as they mature.
Two qualities are paramount to happiness, good health and the ability to fall in love. In our stress filled society, and our involvement with our families putting them first we just don't take the time to nurture ourselves as frequently as we should. Which basically means everyday. Somehow, somewhere we must carve a moment in time to do something luxuriously scrumptious for ourselves. Something that nourishes, the heart, the body and the soul.
I am experimenting. It is not easy. We are not accustomed to it, and we actually have to sit down and think about it ! the resulting well being, peace and tranquility are well worth the effort. Getting started and keeping it going is the challenge.
Share something you do , that makes you feel like a phenonmenal woman. It may just be a breath of fresh air to a worn soul.
...Just like there is no book on parenting, there is no book on nearing higher numbers gracefully...
Perhaps this could be a reason for you to pen a book. Maybe perhaps, eh?

I wish someone would... I can't imagine stuggling alone like I have figuring things out on my own. No one told me about PMS & I had to figure that one out painfully. Uggh...

Lisa that's what I am talking about. Helping someone else thru your own life challenges. I remember when getting back to work after giving birth to my son...being a first time mother and having no one to talk me thru the process.
My own mother was too busy helping my only sister raise her 4 children and had no time to fly to NJ from SC to help her elder daughter out with her first. Anyway this is how my life has been and I am thankful, but I only dream of having someone like you to look up to in my life.
For so long, I have always ended up being the inspiration, Sometimes the inspiration has to be refeuled and replenished as well in order to continue to inspire others.

Kepp doing what you are doing Lisa for those young people in your school. That is the essence of life...helping others by sharing your own life and challenges with them.
