What are some of the things that some did to start educating your children? (234 hits)
I want to know some of the things that some of you guys did to start to educate your chidren. My son is 7 months old, and I know that it's not too early to start some educational methods to try and teach him certain things at certain levels. Please share with me some of the things that some of you have done!
Hi Shalonda, When my son was that young, I bought him some computer software for young children like the JumpStart series and sat at the computer with him and let him mash the buttons.

Thanks for the commets I will be sure to give him some computer time, so he can become familiar becuse computers are the next big thing AND I will take note on the homework, when he is on that level!
Shalonda, When my son was your child's age, I was reading to him and taking him to story time at the library. I am not much of a singer, but I would play baby music and things like that to peak his senses. Reading is absolutely the best thing for a child that age. There are good DVDs out like baby Einstein and don't forget the Sprout Network & Seaseme Street. I also spent a lot of time on the website called babycenter.com making sure that my child was hitting his milestones. WIth each milestone there is a activity or learning appropriate toy recommended. Good luck!

Now my son is 3 1/2 and he still loves the library and reading. He loves learning, but we have to make sure to stimulate them earlier so I am very happy to read your blog.

There are also books with the alphabet, colors, numbers. My son had his own library card. The pop up books are great and the books that have textures where they can feel different things.

Jennifer, I also have a account with babycenter.com to make sure he's hitting his milestones as well. I've been very busy working, so I have to make time after work to do these things with him, because no one is going to put in as much work as I want to. But anyhow, Thank You for the Posts.
I do understand. It isn't easy, but like you said there isn't a person who will put in the time like mommy, but let me tell you that it is so worth it in the long run.
